‘THE WEED’ PAUL MATTHEWS IS 2009 TOP SUPERDOG
THE Riverland Superdogs held their 25-year reunion and presentation Dog Tag (best and fairest) night at the Berri Resort Hotel last week.
Paul ‘Weeds’ Matthews, who had a brilliant season, took out the Dog Tag with 31 votes followed by runner-up Rick ‘Haystack’ Frahn with 18 votes
Shane ‘Rowdy’ Healy received the most consistent trophy.
Jeff ‘Jeffro’ Coates was awarded with the most dedicated trophy and cousin Anton ‘Wow’ Coates got the coach’s award.
New players John ‘The Whiz’ Barrett and Russell ‘Rusty’ Crawford rounded out the trophy recipients by getting the best first year player and ‘tough nut’ awards respectively.
MEANWHILE: Superdog state players Lance Gum ( Seniors 50-55 age group side), Nick Kossatch and Paul Arnold ( Masters 40-45 age group side) were presented with their South Australian guernseys.
Port Adelaide Power runner, David Arnfield, was guest speaker at the AFL Masters guernsey presentation held at the Flinders Park Football Club.
